Johnson Controls

AN OPTIMIZED DIGITAL EXPERIENCE

Overview

Johnson Controls, a building controls company focused on manufacturing fire, HVAC, and safety equipment, had built itself into an international powerhouse. That far-reaching footprint ultimately revealed new sets of challenges, including:

  • A lack of a global Product Information Management (PIM) tool and plan
  • Difficulty in supporting their complex structure across 20+ business units and 4 global regions
  • Disorganized data, which is often backbreaking when integrating a PIM tool
  • Inefficiencies in syndication and internal operations related to their many SKUs

Solutions

  • For this large enterprise, planned a phased global rollout approach to design
  • Business units gave input during the data definition stage, leading to major improvements in operational efficiencies
  • A hybrid data model gave flexibility to each business unit with flexibility for both taxonomy and hierarchy
  • Inbound, data from 15 ERPs are ingested into inriver through Mulesoft & data lake architecture
  • Outbound, an API and Mulesoft architecture pushes to Salesforce CRM and Salesforce B2B Commerce, Global Brand.coms on Sitecore CMS, and more
  • A global architecture framework allows for easy rollout to additional business units

Platforms

  • InRiver PIM
